A Study on the Effect of the Suicide Gatekeeper Training for Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers in Seoul

Abstract
Objective : The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the ¡®Suicide Gatekeeper Training for teachers¡¯ awareness of suicide prevention which can play a crucial role in early detection and connection with adolescents at risk for suicide.

Methods : ¡®Suicide Gatekeeper Training for teachers¡¯ developed by Seoul Suicide Prevention Center in 2018 was conducted for 107 elementary, middle, and high school teachers within the city of Seoul, We conducted the same questionnaire before and after the training to verify whether any misperception and bias on suicide change. Then, a paired sample t-test was performed by using SPSS 18.0 to analyze the pre-post change.

Results : As a result of the paired t-test, a statistically significant pre-post difference was found before and after participating in the Suicide Gatekeeper Training for teachers.
